How to interpret the 7 card Love Clarity spread

Love can be exciting, confusing and everything in between. It’s not always easy to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface! Whether it’s in the beginning stages of a connection, a situation that feels uncertain or something more complicated.

That’s why I want you to learn about the 7 Card Love Clarity Spread. I made it my job to help others like you figure out what’s going on in their love lives – and this spread is designed to help you look at their feelings and intentions on your own. I’ll provide two possible examples for each position as we go along!

Card Positions & What They Mean

Here’s how to lay out the cards (just like in the graphic) and what each one reveals:

1. What they say they Feel

This card shows how they’d respond if openly asked what their feelings for you are. This can be influenced by what they feel comfortable saying out loud at this point, what they think is expected of them or how practiced they are with expressing emotions in general.

It doesn’t mean that this card is not a real reflection of their feelings. It’s just the highly filtered version of what they allow themselves to reveal of them in front of you. It can be pretty much all, or perhaps only a glimpse of that they really feel. It’s one piece of the puzzle.

Examples – If you asked them about their feelings point blank – here’s what they might say:

The Sun in position I
I feel happy when you’re around. When we spend time together it feels warm, carefree – I can be myself when I’m around you. I like you a lot.

The Four of Cups in position I
Right now, I can’t be bothered with this. I don’t want to talk about my feelings and I don’t really want to hear about yours. Can we talk about this another time?

2. What They’re Not Saying Out Loud

This position reveals the feelings they may not be ready to share. It’s not always easy to find the right words for feelings. Sharing what we really think about someone makes us vulnerable. Sometimes, circumstances don’t allow for complete honesty.

Examples – what you might hear listening to their internal dialogue:

(The Sun) + The Fool in position II
I’m excited to see where this is going, but honestly, I have no idea where it’s heading and that’s exactly what I need right now.

(Four of Cups) + Nine of Wands in position II
I’m tired right now. I do want to make this work and I have not given up, but I’m exhausted and barely standing.

3. Their Subconscious (affecting their feelings)

This card here can highlight their unconscious motivations or old wounds driving their behavior in your connection. It’s what they feel deep down. They are very likely not aware of how this aspect of them is affecting their feelings and behaviour.

Examples – If their subconscious could talk:

(The Sun, The Fool) + Nine of Pentacles in position III
I love autonomy and independence, in me and other people. This is what I appreciate in this relationship. We like each other but our sense of self is not dependent on each other.

(Four of Cups, Nine of Wands) + Page of Swords in position III
I’m curious and I want to move forward – I won’t let this rest. But I’ll have to watch carefully first and see when it’s the right moment.

4. Their intentions (Towards you)

What are they actually aiming for with you? Do they intend to try, invest and move things forward? Or do they intend (consciously or unconsciously) to keep it casual, stall or step away?

Examples – If you could listen in to their intentions:

(The Sun, The Fool, Nine of Pentacles) + Two of Wands in position IV
“I’m at a point where I need to decide what this could become. Part of me wants to step forward and see where it leads and part of me is still weighing my options. I’m figuring out whether I can expand my life to truly include you.”

(Four of Cups, Nine of Wands, Page of Swords) + Seven of Cups in position IV
“My intention is to keep imagining what this could be, but I’m not ready to settle on one path. Part of me wants to choose this, part of me wants to escape into other possibilities. I don’t want to give up, but I also don’t want to promise what I’m not sure I can live up to.”

5. How they see you

How do they view you as a person – energetically, romantically? Are you a mystery to them, a safe place or someone who challenges them?

Examples – If they were brave enough to tell you how they see you:

(The Sun, The Fool, Nine of Pentacles, Two of Wands) Queen of Wands in position V
“I see you as magnetic and confident. You are someone who lights up the space around you. I admire you – you feel alive, exciting but also self-contained. You don’t need me and that’s why I feel drawn to you.”

(Four of Cups, Nine of Wands, Page of Swords, Seven of Cups) The High Priestess in position V
“I see you as someone I can’t quite figure out and somehow that draws me in. You’re strong and quiet at the same time. You know more than you let on. Sometimes it feels like you can see right through me and I don’t always know how to handle that.”

6. Love outcome

This isn’t a forever prediction – it’s a snapshot of where things are headed if nothing changes. It’s especially helpful for understanding where it’s going based on the current energy.

Examples – The Love Outcome of Your connection if nothing changes

(The Sun, The Fool, Nine of Pentacles, Two of Wands, Queen of Wands ) + Six of Pentacles position VI
The outcome suggests a connection where giving and receiving need to be carefully balanced. There can be warmth, affection and support, but only if both are willing to invest equally. It’s promising, but the relationship may lean at times toward one person giving more than the other.

(Four of Cups, Nine of Wands, Page of Swords, Seven of Cups) + Two of Swords in position VI
The outcome points to a standstill. There’s attraction and curiosity, but also hesitation and fear of making the wrong move. Instead of closure, the energy circles around indecision.

7. What you need to be reminded of

This is the wisdom card – this one brings you back to yourself. It might be a reminder to stay grounded, set a boundary, open your heart or trust your intuition.

Examples – Remember That:

(The Sun, The Fool, Nine of Pentacles, Two of Wands, Queen of Wands, Six of Pentacles) Strength in position VII
Strength wants you to show up with an open heart, even if it feels scary at times. Calm confidence is your superpower and it will let you to deal with any emotionally challenging situation. You’ve been here before and deep down you already know that you have the resilience to deal with this situation calmly. Don’t worry, you got this.

(Four of Cups, Nine of Wands, Page of Swords, Seven of Cups) + Two of Swords in position VI
You need to be reminded that it’s okay to walk away from what doesn’t truly fulfill you. Even if there’s attraction or curiosity, you don’t have to stay in a situation that leaves you doubting yourself. The Eight of Cups calls you back to keep seeking what feels aligned and nourishing, instead of clinging to something that drains you.

Pro Tips for Reading the Spread:

  • Look for repeating suits or Major Arcana to see which themes dominate (emotional, mental, action-based, karmic).
  • Pair cards 2 + 3 to reveal what’s really going on with them internally.
  • Use card 7 as your anchor – no matter what you find in the others, this is your message of self-trust.
